SLUH INTRAMURALS
FLAG FOOTBALL
GENERAL INFORMATION:
1. Games will
be played in the SLUH Stadium.
2. Games will be approximately 20 minutes long during Activity Periods and the
first set of a day's games will begin approximately ten minutes into the Period.
3. ACADEMIC OR SLUH CLUB/SPORTS TEAM CONFLICTS HAVE PRIORITY
OVER INTRAMURALS!!! (NOTE: SLUH athletes should contact their coaches
for clearance to participate in intramurals.)
4. Students should listen to announcements and check the Tournament Bracket located on
the
bulletin board to the east of the Cafeteria Doors for game dates/times.
TEAMS:
1. Teams will be broken down by homerooms, with seven players required to play.
2. Offensive Positions for each play will be broken down as follows:
Offense: 1 QB 1 RB 2-3 Linemen 2-3 WRs
3. Each team
may have only ONE SLUH football player on the field per down and
EVERY homeroom
member who
wishes to participate will be allowed to play!
4. Every player on the field for a given down must wear a flag belt containing TWO
flags - with one flag placed on each hip.
SINGLE-ELIMINATION TOURNAMENT BRACKET:
1. Each
homeroom will be randomly assigned to a spot in their class' tournament
bracket.
Depending
on the number of teams, some teams may receive a 1st Rd. "bye."
2. For each game, the "TOP" team will be designated as the HOME team, while the
"BOTTOM" team will be designated as the VISITOR and will wear the mesh
jerseys.
3. Teams will
advance to the next round of the tournament with each victory. The winning homeroom
for each
class will
play against the Faculty All-Stars later in the year.
GAME RULES:
1. Each game will begin with the VISITORS taking the ball on their own "10 yard line" -
there are NO kickoffs, punts, or field goals/extra points.
-Subsequent plays start from the spot of the previous "tackle."
2. On each possession:
-Teams will have four downs in which to score - NO FIRST DOWNS!!!
-Teams must rotate players if more than 7 homeroom members wish to play
3. On each play:
-No tackling or excessive physical play will be allowed (determined by officials)
-Offensive Linemen must remain within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage.
-A ball-carrier is considered "down" when a defender removes one flag from the
ball
carrier's waist and DROPS it on the ground at the spot of the "tackle."
-A
defender may NOT throw the flag back field or hold onto the flag
after making
a "tackle."
Doing so will
result
in a penalty against the defense.
4. Possession of the ball changes under the following guidelines:
Offensive Touchdown- Defense takes possession from their own "10 yd. line"
Turnover on Downs- Defense takes possession from their own "10 yd. line"
Defense Recovers Fumble- Defense takes possession at spot of fumble recovery
Defense Intercepts
Pass-
Defense takes possession at spot of TACKLE

Fumbles aren't "returnable" , Interceptions ARE)
