Pulse Rules & Regulations
DJs will put on shows during Activity Period, before school, and after school
-Maximum amount of people allowed to be involved in one show: 3
-As a show is going on inside the room, the door must be shut and not opened while on the air unless authorized by a manager
-A sign posted outside the door will note whether station is currently “on air” or not
-DJs must show up for their assigned session or:
-Second offense: Removal from schedule pending decision by General Manager
-Third offense: Automatic Removal
-(All punishments are with regards to unexcused absences. Any excuse must be brought to the attention of a manager, who will determine whether or not it’s valid)
- DJ conduct inside the room will consist of the following:
-No horseplay, no yelling, no writing or drawing on walls, desks, posters, etc., no stealing, no destruction of property
-The guidelines in the Parent/Student Handbook apply inside the Pulse studio with regards to behavior
-No eating is allowed inside the Pulse studio unless specifically authorized by the General Manager
-DJs may enter the studio as they please throughout the day to prepare for their shows or do homework or study while listening to music
-The General Manager has the authority to ban anyone from the Pulse who either commits an offense previously listed or exerts questionable or improper
behavior over a period of time.
-Once a student is banned, they are no longer allowed to enter the Pulse studio unless they are given permission to return from the General Manager
-Drawing or writing on the dry-erase board is strictly prohibited unless authorized by a manager
- Behavior on the air must include:
-No profanity, no racial slurs, no deflammatory remarks against faculty or other students, no periods of silence for more than five seconds during broadcast
-Each show must contain at least some talking in between songs being played, but may contain all talking & no music, depending on the type of show
-There are certain prizes that DJs may give away at the General Manager’s discretion. There may include, but not be limited to, CDs, posters, stickers, & other music paraphernalia. These may be given away by process of the first person to stop by the studio, answer a trivia question announced by the DJ, call-in winners after school, or just simply part of a free
giveaway
- All music played:
-Must be certain to contain no explicit lyrics, no racial slurs, no deflammatory remarks, must be something that Mr. Clark would approve of, content must be clean, free of any vulgar or suggestive language subject to the General Manager’s approval
- Behavior on the computers will consist of the following:
-No websites featuring any explicit, vulgar, suggestive, or deflammatory content may be visited. The same rules that would apply in the computer lab will apply here
-No instant messaging is allowed on AIM through any other screenname except “sluhpulse”
-No checking your email on our computers unless authorized by a manager
-The printer may only be used with permission from one of the managers
-Music put on the computers by DJs must be approved by a manager before it is played on the air
- The Pulse website:
-May serve as a means for students, faculty, and alumni to listen to archived sound recordings from certain school events, such as speeches, homilies, concerts, etc.
-May serve as a way for students to stay informed of concert announcements, giveaways, Listen Live, and make requests.
- The Pulse may serve as an outlet for school announcements, messages from organizations throughout the school, and any other information to be broadcast to the students & faculty deemed worthy by the General Manager or the Administration
- The Pulse may sponsor school events such as Spring Fling, mixers, etc. & help provide music & other services, in collaboration with STUCO, Prep News, or any other student organizations
